Remember Mr. McDuffy, the protagonist in James Joyce' short story " A Painful Case"? He lived " at a little distance from his body" - and it so turns out that's a familiar place for lots of us, particularly when we are stressed out.
We try to think our way out of our problems, but often the more we think the worse we feel. The physiological effects of stress can be debilitating. We can't digest our food properly, we can't sleep, we feel stiff and irritated and out of sorts - and the worse we feel the harder it is to do all the things we know we should be doing to take care of ourselves!
BodyMind Centering is a gentle, nourishing form of bodywork that brings you back in touch with your physical being, immediately lowering the level of stress in your body, releasing restrictions and correcting imbalances. Your body knows what it needs to do to restore its inherent balance. As the practitionner, I provide support to the tissues themselves as they bring themselves into a place of relaxation and wellbeing.
Since you only remove shoes and glasses it's also the easiest and most convenient massage around.
